The Ministry of Culture (MOC) hosted the 49th Golden Tripod Awards for Publications presentation ceremony at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on Sept. 24. This year’s awards received 1,386 submissions across 22 awards in 4 categories. In the end, 35 winners were selected from 106 finalists.
The presentation ceremony were attended by Minister of Culture Li Yuan, Legislator Jean Kuo (郭昱晴), and other distinguished guests.
Minister Li presented the Special Contribution Award to children’s book author Cheng Ming-chin (鄭明進), commending his lifelong dedication to introducing picture books from around the world to Taiwan while authoring nearly 50 works of his own. Li also praised Cheng’s pivotal role in nurturing talent in the field.
This year’s winning entries cover a wide range of themes—ranging from societal reflections and ethnic narratives to environmental concerns—spanning magazines, books, government publications, and digital publications. They offer in-depth observations of contemporary trends, showcasing the vitality of Taiwan’s publishing industry.
To foster greater exchange between domestic and international publishers while promoting these winning works, the MOC organized three seminar sessions at the Taiwan Literature Base on Sept. 21. Featured speakers included Italian author Paola Myriam Visconti, Italian children’s book author Emanuela Nava, and French independent publisher Florent Grandin. The three were also invited to the ceremony as award presenters.
