Hope:

Joey:

So, it’s Teachers’ Day tomorrow, Hope, Happy Teachers’ Day!

Hope:

Thank you, Joey. It is a special day for all teachers.

Joey:

Yes. So, talking about Teachers’ Day, how do you like being a teacher, Hope?

Hope:

Well, there are some ups and downs in life, and so is a teacher’s life.

Sometimes, your students are as pretty as angels, and sometimes, it can be really challenging to educate students.

Joey:

I agree. I think it is not easy to be a teacher because students sometimes can be very 調皮搗蛋, right?

Hope:

Yes, they can be very naughty and mischievous

Joey:

What is mischievous?

Hope:

Mischievous means 頑皮淘氣的.

Joey:

I see. Students sometimes can be very naughty and mischievous. Besides, it needs a lot of 耐心to teach students.

Hope:

I agree. It needs lots of patience to guide students. If you are not patient enough, you may feel like giving up at any time.

Joey:

Seriously? I think teachers are important to every student.

光是他們對學生的付出就值得讓人尊敬。

Hope:

Agree. They deserve respect for all the hard work they put in.

Joey:

Yes. Teachers deserve respect for all the hard work they put in.

Hope:

But I personally think, instead of respect, teachers feel the happiest when they see their students reach certain achievement.

Joey:

Reach certain achievement 是 達到成就, right?

Hope:

Right!

Joey:

Hmm…But what if the students are so lazy that the teacher can never see that day.

Hope:

Then, what teachers can do is keep guiding them. They would never give up! Well,…unless the students give up themselves.

Then, there’s nothing much a teacher can do. But I would feel upset if I had that kind of students.

Joey:

That’s why students and parents 都應該重視老師付出的努力。

Hope:

Yes, it is to value teachers’ efforts that let the teachers hang in there.

Joey:

That’s why students and parents should value teachers and their efforts.

Hope:

So, Joey, what have your teachers influenced you the most?

Joey:

They have influenced me….They have influenced me……

I think it is the attitude towards life. My high school teachers taught me, “Never give up!” 永不放棄.

I think I am always trying my best to keep this 座右銘.

Hope:

Never give up! It is a good motto.

Joey:

Yes. I adopted it as a motto of life.

Hope:

So, which teacher has influenced you the most since you were young?

Joey:

Well, it definitely is my math teacher.

Hope:

No kidding!

Joey:

What about you, Hope?

Hope:

Well, my English teacher, math teacher, geography teacher, and art teacher in high schools.

They all played an important role in a certain point of my life.

Joey:
